Wolf Kahn's America

Wolf Kahn, whose beautiful and lyrical landscapes are among America's most popular contemporary paintings, has traveled the world in his lifetime. In this engaging volume, he describes his journeys throughout the United States in pursuit of his art, illustrating his adventures with the paintings he created as he went. At the same time, he brings the reader into his creative life, discussing the problems various locations presented and how he solved them, and sharing memories from his peripatetic wanderings, vividly recounting tales of the people he has met and the sights he has seen. Enhanced by Wolf Kahn's lovely paintings and by John Updike's introduction, a tribute to an admired friend, Wolf Kahn's America is a charming and refreshing look at the world of a painter, seen through the candid and unpretentious eyes of one of America's best-loved artists.
