Serge Savard: Forever Canadien

Ever since he played his first game on a makeshift rink in the small town of Landrienne, in Quebec’s Abitibi region, where he grew up, Serge Savard has been driven by a single passion: hockey. In this biographical account, the athlete and businessman who spent 33 years with the Montreal Canadiens organization takes us behind the scenes of a larger-than-life career. Journalist Philippe Cantin skilfully captures the key moments of Savard’s journey that shaped him as a hockey player—from his apprenticeship as a rookie to his retirement from the Canadiens and his years with the Winnipeg Jets—and, later, as the Canadiens general manager. This captivating and carefully documented book details the rich history of our country’s beloved sport through the life of a man who has experienced it like none other.
