About

Matt Christopher, the number one sports writer for kids, profiles the life of Jackie Robinson. On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson put on a Brooklyn Dodgers uniform and stepped onto Ebbets Field. Before that spring day, no African American had been allowed to play in the major leagues. When Robinson first started playing for the Dodgers, people threatened him and called him names. Even some of his own teammates refused to have anything to do with him off the field. But through it all, Robinson played each game with focus, determination, and heart.
