Heidi: A Graphic Novel

A beautifully adapted graphic novel version of Johanna Spyri’s classic Heidi, retold for young readers with engaging illustrations.

In this graphic novel adaptation of the beloved classic, young Heidi is sent to live with her gruff grandfather in a secluded shepherd’s hut high in the Swiss Alps. Though her grandfather is expected to reject her, Heidi’s cheerful optimism begins to soften his heart. As Heidi explores the mountain, tending goats and learning to read, she encounters the joys and challenges of alpine life. Later, she travels to Frankfurt, where homesickness and new friendships shape her growth. Rendered in warm, folk art–inspired illustrations by Ofride, this adaptation captures Heidi’s resilient spirit, the beauty of nature, and the deep bonds of family and friendship.

"A well-developed adaptation with appealing pacing and richly detailed artwork that brings Heidi’s world to life, recommended for graphic novel collections." School Library Journal
