Desirable Daughters

Padma, Parvati, and Tara are three Calcutta-born sisters - intelligent, artistic, and extremely independent. Born into a wealthy Brahmin family presided over by their doting father and his traditionalist mother, the girls feel trapped by a society with little regard for young women. Rebelling against family and convention, the girls' heads and hearts take them in very different directions. Tara, the youngest of the three sisters, lives in San Francisco and is divorced from an Indian Silicon Valley dot-com millionaire. Tara and her teenage son are living the typical Valley life - until a mysterious stranger who claims to be family enters their lives. As Tara is drawn further into the past to piece together the story of her ancestral namesake and her own immediate familial history, the inexorable bonds of sisterhood are tested as never before.
