Shelf-Made Rewards Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before participating in this program. 

General Information 

Shelf-Made Rewards (the “Program”) is brought to you by Book Outlet. Participation and benefits shall be considered void where prohibited by law. Taxes may apply where required by law. Book Outlet assumes no liability for any Member's participation that contravenes the laws or regulations of his or her state or province. Your participation is subject to present and future program rules. Your participation is valid only at Book Outlet and rewards may only be earned and redeemed on the Book Outlet website. 

A Member only earns points based on activity on the Book Outlet website. 

To participate in Shelf-Made Rewards and earn or redeem points, you must have a Book Outlet account and be separately opted into Shelf-Made Rewards. Having an account alone does not enroll you in the Program — opting in is a separate step. 

Members may opt to purchase products without using their points. 

Members will be able to check the amount of points accumulated in their account by logging into the My Account section and viewing their My Rewards page (bookoutlet.com/account/details). 

Members may not redeem or exchange accumulated points, or their Book Bucks value, for cash. 

Members may not give, donate, transfer, or share their points to another Member's account. Members may only be in possession of one Shelf-Made Rewards account at any given time. 

Book Outlet specifically reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or modify Shelf-Made Rewards at its sole discretion. Book Outlet reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or permanently ban any specific Member's participation in Shelf-Made Rewards if any fraud, virus or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, safety or proper function of the Program. Book Outlet reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or permanently ban any specific Member's participation in Shelf-Made Rewards if Book Outlet suspects that such Member is conducting fraudulent activity to acquire, accumulate or spend points, including but not limited to, creating multiple Rewards accounts or submitting false referrals. 

Book Outlet may determine, in its sole discretion, to restrict the redemption of points with respect to certain products. Other Book Outlet restrictions may apply. 

Earning Points 

A Member will accumulate points for the following actions relating to his or her account, as set forth below. 

Shelf-Status Tiers 

Your points earning rate depends on your Shelf-Status, which is based on how much you've spent in the last rolling 12 months: 

Certified Hauler: $0.00 – 129.99 USD in the last 12 months — earns 1 point per $1 spent. 

Haul Star: $130.00 – 224.99 USD in the last 12 months — earns 1.5 points per $1 spent. 

Haul of Famer: $225.00+ USD in the last 12 months — earns 2 points per $1 spent. 

Since Shelf-Status is based on a rolling 12-month window rather than a fixed calendar year, your status may adjust over time as your spending changes. 

Purchases 

Members earn points on the purchase of a product at the rate corresponding to their Shelf-Status, but not for any amount spent on taxes or shipping costs. For the avoidance of doubt, points are only earned for money actually spent on the product, not for the amount of any discounts. If your order subtotal is not a whole dollar amount, it is rounded to the nearest dollar before points are calculated. If an order is cancelled, any points awarded for the purchase will be cancelled. If a product is returned or refunded, the points awarded for the purchase of such product will be removed from a Member's account. 

Loyalty Days 

On select “Loyalty Days” throughout the year, Members earn an additional +1x bonus on top of their normal Shelf-Status earning rate. 

Create an Account and Opt In 

50 Points: One time per account. Sign up for a Book Outlet account and opt into Shelf-Made Rewards to earn 50 points. 

Subscribe to Our Emails or Texts 

10 Points Each, up to 20 Points: One time per account. Earn 10 points for subscribing to our emails, and another 10 points for subscribing to texts. Be the first to know about sales, new arrivals & more! New subscribers may also receive a separate welcome offer by email — that offer is issued outside of Shelf-Made Rewards and is not part of your points balance. 

Complete Your Profile 

10 Points Each, up to 20 Points: Earn 10 points for each of the following, one time per account — adding your birthday and setting your email preferences. 

Start a Wishlist 

10 Points: One time per account. Add a product to your Wishlist to earn points. 

Achievements 

Members can unlock one-time Achievement bonuses on top of their regular points: 

Book Boss: Complete 5 orders of $35 or more (total price, including shipping and tax) to earn 100 points. 

No Shelf-Control: Complete 10 orders of $35 or more (total price, including shipping and tax) to earn 200 points. 

Genre Jumper: Purchase from 10 or more distinct genres to earn 50 points. This Achievement applies equally across all Shelf-Status tiers. 

Notorious R.E.A.D.E.R.: Reach $750 in lifetime spend to earn 300 points. 

Dash's Dynasty: Reach $1,500 in lifetime spend to earn 400 points. 

Achievement progress is based on completed orders. If a qualifying order is returned or refunded, it will not count toward the applicable Achievement, and any points already awarded for it will be removed. 

Refer a Friend to Book Outlet 

Members earn 100 points for each successful referral (125 points for Haul of Famer Members). There is no limit to the number of friends you may refer, and you do not need to have made a purchase yourself to be eligible to refer a friend — you only need to be opted into Shelf-Made Rewards. 

Referral points are awarded for each referred customer who makes their first purchase on Book Outlet with a value of $25 or more from a referral link. Referral links are unique to each referrer and must be generated from the Refer a Friend page. 

Refer a Friend New Customer Definition 

Referral customers must not already have a Book Outlet account and must not have a previous purchasing history with Book Outlet. Points will only be awarded for successful referrals to shoppers who have never purchased from Book Outlet prior to the referral being sent. 

In addition, friends who are referred must not share the same home or business address, IP address, device, or other personal information as the referrer. Please note there are security measures in place to prevent the wrongful awarding of points based on information like shared addresses or devices. If you referred a friend and did not receive your points, it may be because of these security features. If your referral is valid and you have not received your points, please contact our Customer Service team so we can investigate further. 

Refer a Friend Offer Conditions 

Referral coupons are provided from the referral landing page shown after clicking a referral link. Coupons are only provided to brand new account-holders who have not yet placed an order with Book Outlet. Referral coupons are valid for $5 off the customer's first purchase of $25 or more before taxes and shipping and after other discounts, and can be used in conjunction with other website promotions or offers. 

Receiving Referral Points 

The successful referrer will receive their referral points (100, or 125 for Haul of Famer Members) after their friend's first order has shipped. Until then, the applicable referral points will be shown in the “Points Available Soon” portion of the Rewards Dashboard. If the referral order is cancelled or returned, all applicable referral points will be forfeited.

Free Shipping 

Your Shelf-Status can also unlock better shipping rates: 

Certified Hauler: follows Book Outlet's standard shipping rates — free shipping on orders of $35 or more, or a flat $6.95 shipping fee on orders under that amount. 

Haul Star: free shipping on orders of $25 or more. 

Haul of Famer: free shipping on orders of $15 or more. 

eGift cards do not count toward any free shipping minimum, since they are emailed rather than shipped. 

Your Points 

Available Points 

These are points that your account has accumulated and are available immediately for use. 

Points Available Soon 

Points are awarded immediately upon purchase but cannot be used against a future purchase until the order has shipped. This is to prevent redemption of points for a cancelled product. 

Expiration of Points 

Each batch of points you earn expires independently, based on your Shelf-Status at the time those points were earned: 12 months for Certified Hauler, 18 months for Haul Star, and 24 months for Haul of Famer, calculated from the date those specific points were earned. Book Outlet will provide advance notice before points are scheduled to expire. 

Redeeming Points 

Points convert to a Book Bucks dollar value at the following rates: 

100 points = $5   •   200 points = $10   •   300 points = $15   •   400 points = $20   •   600 points = $30   •   800 points = $40   •   1,000 points = $50   •   1,500 points = $75   •   2,000 points = $100 

Points may only be redeemed on the Book Outlet website, and the resulting Book Bucks value can be used towards the purchase price of item(s) in the cart, as well as for payment of taxes and/or shipping costs. Unless otherwise indicated by Book Outlet, points may be redeemed in conjunction with discounts or offers granted by Book Outlet. 

Members can redeem a maximum of 2,000 points ($100 in Book Bucks value) per order. Book Outlet reserves the right to change this limit at any time. Members must accumulate 100 points before being eligible to redeem them. 

Members wishing to redeem Available Points must do so at the point of purchase within checkout, by selecting the desired redemption amount from the rewards option shown at checkout. The resulting discount is applied automatically to the order total — Members do not need to locate or enter a promo code themselves. The value of the points redeemed within checkout will thereby be deducted from the Member's count of Available Points. The system will update the Member's remaining points immediately after points are redeemed. Points cannot be applied retroactively. 

Account Information 

You may view your account activity online on the Book Outlet website. The information you provide will be handled in accordance with the Book Outlet Privacy Policy available on the Book Outlet website. 

Gift Cards 

Points are not awarded for the purchase of Book Outlet Gift Cards. When making a purchase with a Gift Card, points will be earned on the order amount, less taxes and shipping. 

Wholesale Buyers, Resellers and Freight Forwarding 

Wholesale buyers, resellers, and freight forwarders are not eligible for Shelf-Made Rewards. If Book Outlet determines an account is being used for wholesale purchasing or freight forwarding, Book Outlet reserves the right to unenroll the account from the Program and block it from receiving points. Book Outlet reserves the right to revoke any points accumulated to-date by suspected wholesalers or freight forwarders. 

Termination 

Participation in Shelf-Made Rewards is a privilege granted to Book Outlet Members and, as such, can be suspended, revoked or terminated at any time by Book Outlet for any reason or for no reason. In the event of termination of your participation, all benefits, including all accrued points and any unredeemed Book Bucks value, will automatically and immediately be forfeited. 

Program Changes 

From time to time, Book Outlet may amend the points earning or redemption rates without notice to Members. Book Outlet reserves the right to vary any or all of the terms of Shelf-Made Rewards, to amend these Terms and Conditions, or to terminate the Program at any time without notice and without further obligation to Members, including but not limited to modifications which: (a) govern points earned on and after the date of the change; or (b) change the value of already-accumulated points. Notice of any such changes, amendments or termination will be provided to Members via message or email, or by being posted on the Book Outlet website, and will be effective immediately unless otherwise stated in such notice.
