 But inspiration doesn’t come easily. Things get complicated when her neighbor turns out to be Parker Warren, a tech world “Billionaire Bachelor” — and her former stairwell hookup from two years ago. Their past was messy, full of tension, attraction, and unresolved feelings. Now, what was once casual and electric has become awkward, antagonistic, and emotionally loaded. 

 Elle needs a muse; Parker needs help with appearances: his company is going through a risky acquisition and he’s been pressured into staging a high-profile relationship. Elle, with her own deadlines and creative demands, wants recovery and inspiration. They strike a deal: a pretend relationship, shared proximity (they live mere walls apart), and agreed boundaries. Just for the summer. 

 As Elle chases story inspiration — traversing New York landmarks, fighting off her own self-doubt, and balancing her anonymity in her writing — the complicated proximity to Parker now forces both of them to confront the past. Hate becomes fuel for creativity; rivalry kindles into something more. But can Elle finish her screenplay? Can Parker move beyond the image he’s forced to project? And can a summer set up as pretend become much more when feelings refuse to stay hidden?
