Impressions of Giverny: A Painter's Paradise 1883-1914

A few years after Monet moved to the hamlet of Giverny 45 miles northwest of Paris, his rural retreat had become a lively international summer art colony. Historical photos and elucidating text tell the story of the colony, from the arrival of its first visitor in 1885 to the outbreak of World War I in 1914, when most of the artists left. Color reproductions of 75 paintings produced by Monet and others such as John Singer Sargeant, Frederick Carl Frieseke, and Lilla Cabot Perry give a sampling of Impressionist work.
