Nikki and J.R. Marx were just children when their father, Eddie Marx, was murdered. At the time, they were too young to comprehend what was happening.

Marx and his partner, Pete Barlowe, had built a formidable organization from an ounce of powder and, over the years, turned it into a very profitable drug, gambling, and prostitution operation. At the funeral, Barlowe promised Pete’s wife, Naomi, that he would take care of her and the children as if they were his own.
