A Sand County Almanac

From an abandoned shack on a small Wisconsin farm came the twentieth century's totemic work f ecological thought. Surrounded by river-song, plovers, and tamarack trees that "sprinkle gold on October grouse," pioneering conservationist Aldo Leopold set about restoring his farm's exhausted land. In so doing, he evolved his crowning idea of the "land ethic," signifying moral equilibrium between humans and all other life on earth.
