The Staggerford Murders

In The Staggerford Murders, residents of the Ransford Hotel inadvertently solve the nine-year-old murder of esteemed Staggerford resident Neddy Nichols and the disappearance of his widow Blanche. Hassler's wry humor is in full force as this wonderful group of characters comes together to retrace the events that led to one of the town's biggest scandals. In the bittersweet The Life and Death of Nancy Clancy's Nephew, aging W.D. Nestor finds his loneliness dispelled by his friendship with a young Staggerford boy. While the camaraderie does fill the void left by the childhood death of W.D.'s brother and the later disappearance of his own son, it is not until he makes a sudden visit to his one-hundred-year-old aunt Nancy that W.D. finds the peace he has been looking for.
