About

Featuring the admired Linnet Muir sequence - a first-person, semi-autobiographical narrative about Mavis Gallant's Montreal childhood - Montreal Stories offers a carefully curated collection of some of Gallant's best works. Navigating the confusion and loneliness arising from their displacement, in both life and location, Gallant's characters are painted in vivid, painstaking detail, with all the delicate intricacies and emotions that arise from their internal and external sense of exile. Observant and nuanced, Montreal Stories is a world removed from time, but not from human nature.
