Matthieu : Du texte biblique à une application contemporaine

Most Bible commentaries are only a one-way trip: they take us from the twenty-first century to the first. But they leave us there, assuming that we will somehow know how to get back on our own. In other words, they focus on the original meaning of the passage, but do not delve into its application to contemporary life. The information they offer is very valuable, but it is only half an aid. The NIV Application Commentary helps us with both parts of the interpretive task, that is, it also helps us apply a message from another era to our current context. This series not only explains to us what it meant to the original readers, but also shows us that there is a powerful message for the church today. To achieve this, it analyzes each passage in three parts: 1. Original meaning. 2. Building bridges between the contexts of the biblical author and ours. 3. Contemporary meaning
