About

Where art, science fiction, and identity collide, new worlds emerge.

Discover the visionary work of Brazilian contemporary artist Luiz Roque in Estufa, his first monograph, published in conjunction with his 2024 mid-career survey at Berlin's KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Exploring the intersections of modernism, pop culture, queer politics, and science fiction, Roque creates compelling visual experiences that challenge conventional ideas of identity, community, and reality.

Through innovative video installations, sculptural environments, and cinematic experimentation, his work gives visibility to marginalized communities while imagining alternative futures. Moving between past, present, and future, Roque combines striking imagery with thought-provoking social commentary, inviting audiences to reconsider the boundaries between art, technology, and society.

An engaging introduction to an influential contemporary artistic practice, Estufa is an essential addition to collections exploring experimental film, contemporary art, and cultural identity.
