L'interprète

Un livre illustré émouvant et sincère sur une jeune fille qui a deux emplois, l'un en tant qu'enfant passionnée de football et l'autre en tant qu'interprète pour ses parents hispanophones.

Lorsque Cecilia n'est pas sur le terrain de football en train de marquer des buts, elle accompagne ses parents dans toutes sortes d'endroits pour adultes, comme le bureau des permis de conduire, le cabinet du comptable et l'atelier de réparation automobile. Elle les aide en traduisant de l'espagnol vers l'anglais et vice-versa. C'est un travail important et cela peut même être amusant. C'est aussi très épuisant.

Parfois, concilier ses deux emplois (profiter de son enfance et être interprète) implique une telle responsabilité que Cecilia a l'impression de se diviser en deux ! Est-il temps pour Cecilia de siffler et de demander un temps mort ?

Some kids have one job: to be a kid! Cecilia has two. When she isn't on the soccer field scoring goals, Cecilia accompanies her parents to all kinds of grown-up places that her teammates don't go to, like the DMV, the accountant's office, and the auto shop. She helps them translate from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish. It can be fun, but often it's really hard work.

Sometimes Cecilia's second job is so much responsibility, it feels like she'll split in two! That is, until she calls a time out.
