About

Darius is a prequel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood universe, focusing on the character Darius, one of the founding members.

The story begins in 1981. Darius, disillusioned by his King’s leadership and the toll of war against the Lessening Society, is trying to find purpose. One night he nearly hits a human woman, Anne Wurster, who has run into the road escaping harm. To protect her, he pays her medical bills, though he knows he cannot reveal his true nature or forge a permanent bond. Their connection grows, but when Anne discovers what he is (a vampire of the Brotherhood), she leaves. She is later revealed to be carrying his child, a daughter destined for greatness as Queen of the vampires. Much of the novel explores Darius’ struggle: loyalty, guilt, love, and grief — especially after Anne dies and he raises (or at least watches over) their child from afar.

“A book designed to please die-hard series fans.” —  Kirkus Reviews
