When her best friend, Peter, goes missing, Andy is immediately called back to the events of summer 1996 - the stolen diamond necklace they searched the manor for and the charming and unreliable boy they found waiting on the grounds one morning who appeared from nowhere and never once told the truth. Now, to find Peter, Andy must leave behind the secure life she has carefully built for herself and revisit the past, when she was the daughter of the local alcoholic, she had the kind of friends you keep forever, and a terrible secret lay just out of sight.
