The Bad Weather Friend

Bold New Thriller from a #1 New York Times bestselling author

Benny Catspaw — who’s always been too nice for his own good — sees his life unravel: he loses his job, his reputation, his fiancée, and even his favorite chair. He isn’t paranoid — someone is genuinely out to get him. Then Benny inherits a mysterious crate and a video message from an uncle he never knew. Inside the crate is a seven-foot-tall self-described “bad weather friend” named Spike, whose purpose is to protect people who are “too good” for this world. Spike pledges to deal with Benny’s enemies — but his methods are terrifying. As Benny and a resourceful young waitress-cum-PI named Harper join forces with Spike, they’re plunged into a high-speed, perilous adventure Benny never imagined possible.

Bold and relentless, this novel showcases Koontz’s mastery of suspense, blending supernatural menace with gritty, real-world stakes.
