About

Fifty years ago a strikingly original film had its premier. Acclaimed today as one of the most remarkable and important motion pictures ever made, 2001: A Space Odyssey was the product of a singular collaboration between maverick director Stanley Kubrick and science fiction visionary Arthur C. Clarke.

Michael Benson has conducted extensive research in Kubrick's and Clarke's archives, and has had the cooperation of Kubrick's widow, Christiane, and key people who worked on the film. Drawing from other interviews, Space Odyssey includes many previously untold stories and unpublished photos. It is the definitive account of the making of a masterpiece.
