Second Chances: A Marine, His Dog, and Finding Redemption

A deeply inspiring story of a former U.S. Marine, his faithful dog, and the next phase of their lives together.

On their travels across America, former marine Craig Grossi and his dog, Fred, were invited to speak at Maine State Prison - the model for Stephen King's fictional Shawshank State Prison. There Craig met an innovative warden and a group of inmates working with the nonprofit America's VetDogs. Many of the inmates are veterans who now serve in an entirely different way: transforming Labrador puppies into companions for disabled vets. The men at Maine State are given a second chance - something that Craig believes everyone deserves.

In this emotionally powerful book, Craig introduces these men to us and challenges us to look deeper, to see that no life is a lost cause and that each of us can make a difference if given the opportunity.
