About

Out of Sync follows Lewis, a member of a band whose usual role is writing songs and singing. When Lewis suddenly stops focusing on those responsibilities and becomes interested in playing his new synthesizer instead, the change throws the entire group out of sync. His bandmates must deal with the effects of having an important member step away from the role they have come to depend on.

Through Lewis's musical dilemma, the story explores friendship, teamwork, individuality, and the challenges that can arise when someone's interests begin to change. The accessible story gives young readers an opportunity to think about balancing personal interests with responsibilities to a group.

As part of the Band Together series, the book uses the experiences of young musicians to explore relationships and social-emotional situations while keeping music at the center of the story.
