About

Moonshine Mafia is a rip-roaring Prohibition days story about bootleggin' moonshine, the greatest criminal heist in West Virginia history, two cat house prostitutes dipping into a hidden stash of cash, a career criminal who comes from a long line of "can't stay out of trouble (and jail)" kinfolk, a star Ohio State football player-turned-lawyer, Jack Walker, who returns to his West Virginia hometown to defend his family..

It's a time when mobster's and moonshiner's got rich. Speakeasies, murders, flappers and riches. When Jack creates a flow of moonshine from Appalachia to big city bosses Al Capone, Bugs Moran, Lucky Luciano and other mob kingpins, the blood flows and Jack is in the middle of it all when he falls hard for the granddaughter of the local crime boss.

A dizzying array of other elements, too many to count, make this novel shine brighter than a moonshine hillbilly drinking up a quart of his 140 proof White Lightning. Moonshine Mafia is a laugh-out-loud, jaw hit the floor, edge of your seat, wonder what's next great fun. The dialogue, as well as the overall narrative, is spot on. And speaking of dialogue, the back and forth between the characters Lamar and Larry is downright hilarious.

The author, who is from West Virginia, does an exceptional job of capturing the Appalachian distinct dialect, but more importantly, he captures the intelligence and strong love of family, land, country, and freedom, that is so common shared by these people from the mountains and isolation of Appalachia.
