Maboroshi

In the town of Mifuse, time has halted after a catastrophic explosion at the local steelworks. Bizarre phenomena fill the skies and townspeople find themselves unable to leave or contact the outside world as the same old radio and TV shows repeat endlessly. Hopeful that everything will return to normal, town leaders forbid change — but one day, teenager Masamune breaks from the monotony when his mysterious classmate Mutsumi brings him into the steelworks’ fifth blast furnace. There he meets a wild, wolflike girl who cannot speak and who uncannily resembles Mutsumi. Their interaction disrupts the tenuous balance of this frozen world and sets in motion an emotional story about connection and love.
