About

The Writers Game: Classic Authors is an illustrated card game that invites players to pit 32 celebrated writers from literary history against one another.

Players compare authors using characteristics such as how prolific they were, the memorability of their characters, and how eventful their lives were, creating playful matchups such as Charlotte Brontë versus Fyodor Dostoyevsky or Jane Austen versus William Shakespeare. The selection spans centuries of literature, beginning with figures such as the Roman poet Virgil and Geoffrey Chaucer and extending through writers including Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens.

Each author is represented on a high-quality illustrated card, with artwork by Lesley Buckingham bringing the literary personalities to life. The competitive format offers an entertaining way to discover facts about famous writers while testing players' knowledge of literary history. Presented in an attractive box, the game is designed especially for readers, literature enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys combining classic authors with quick-paced card-game play.
