About

Betty the Yeti and the Garden Gift follows Betty and her classmates as they plant flowers for their classroom and eagerly wait for them to grow and bloom. Betty is especially excited to see the results of their work, but when the flowers finally blossom, her teacher, Mr. Cyrus, is not there to enjoy the special moment with the class.

Rather than simply accepting that he missed it, thoughtful Betty comes up with a way to share the experience with him. The story combines a familiar school gardening activity with themes of patience, caring, generosity, and thinking about other people’s feelings. Through Betty’s actions, young readers see how a simple, thoughtful gesture can turn something they have grown or created into a meaningful gift for someone else.
