A Monstrous Bedtime

Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Book Award Shortlist

Bedtime routines are important for a good night's sleep—even for the monster under your bed! Award-winning author-artist Kerilynn Wilson cleverly subverts expectations with this cozy and endearing read-aloud for fans of Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site and Good Night, Gorilla.

A glass of water, a fan whirring gently, a story, and a song. Close your eyes. Time to sleep.

But what if the monster under your bed can’t fall asleep? How do you help it? Join one little girl determined to help her monster with a special—monster-sized!—version of her nightly ritual.

Deceptively simple text skillfully captures the comfort young children take in routine, while colorful artwork—full of subtle detail—casts the monster as a friend and co-conspirator. Kerilynn Wilson’s imaginative take on evergreen themes makes A Monstrous Bedtime a must-have for every bedtime. For fans of The Going to Bed Book, Everybody in the Red Brick Building, and Sleep Like a Tiger.
