We have been offering customers amazing deals in new books since we began selling online in 1997. Our product is purchased from many different publishers at amazing prices and we pass along these savings by selling them at 50% to 90% off. The books we purchase are all new and represent publishers’ excess inventory or in many cases excess inventory at bookstores that has been returned to the publisher. The publisher puts a small mark or line on the edge of the book identifying it as a “bargain book” that can no longer be returned to the publisher for credit. Some books have no mark on the edge but most do. If you can live with a small mark on the edge for a 50% to 90% discount then you have found your reader’s paradise.
Your book will always be new and in good condition. Since our books are publisher overstocks there may be very minor wear or bends to the book and this can be expected since some items may have been handled a few times, but most of our books are in great condition.
In a rare case the actual covers for a book might not match the one in the display picture.
Please be assured these are still top quality books and the content will still be the same as described.
We do have a smaller selection of titles we call our Scratch & Dent books. Scratch & Dent are new books but may have dents, scratches, torn or missing dust jackets etc. They will be structurally sound and guaranteed great for reading. If they are for any reason compromised structurally, we will reship the book or put a refund through for the item if we no longer have it in stock. The 110% guarantee will not apply to these items. Scratch and Dent books are not eligible for returns as they are sold as-is and are final sale. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
*NEW* We now offer a selection of Special Buy books which are brand new books printed specifically for BookOutlet. Unlike our Bargain Book books, these titles have no line or dot on the edge.
Like many other businesses, Book Outlet continues to experience increased operational costs and we are constantly forced to consider how to deal with external forces upon our company. In order to avoid increasing our prices, we thought about ways in which we could reduce costs instead. At the present time, approximately 30% of the books we ship in a given day have a sticker on the front or back cover, similar to items you purchase from other retailers, both online and in-store. In the past we have always removed these stickers, but in an effort to maintain our low prices we have ceased from doing this. Thank you for your continued support of our business and your understanding with this change.
If you do receive a book with a sticker, here are some tips and tricks that we have found useful for removing them:
